Cesena: Our excursion can begin from Piazza del Popolo, the central square of the town (every Wednesday and Saturday a nice market takes place here). In the centre of the square there is the beautiful Fontana del Masini, the artist who completed and decorated it in 1589. An attentive visitor can immediately notice something peculiar in this square. It is missing a side, the one which faces onto Viale Mazzoni. On this side, a village stood under the lee of the facing Malatesta Fortress walls till ’800, Borgo Chiesanuova. It was demolished for hygienic and health reasons.
A good walk to the Fortress and its beautiful park is suggested. It can be reached from Piazza del Popolo both through the perspective steps along the Palazzo Comunale and through Viale Mazzoni park entrance. At the end of Via Zeffirino Re there is Palazzo del Ridotto, the seat of the Art Town Gallery. Behind the Building there is the Malatesta Library. Those who appreciate art will find some interesting works both in the main Churches of the town, starting with the very central Duomo in Piazza Pia up to the eighteenth century S. Agostino Church (a short way away from the town centre, in piazza Aguselli) and in S. Domenico Church (in viale Mazzoni, in front of the Fortress). The Alessandro Bonci Town Theatre is one of the most prestigious theatre factories in Romagna. It is dedicated to a tenor from Cesena. He was fond of "bel canto" and left the Cesena workshop to go and challenge no less than Caruso at the Metropolitan of New York.

Ravenna: Ravenna probably dates to the second millenium BC. lt was the base for the Roman Western Mediterranean fLeet during the reign of Emperor Augustus (ist century AD) and was made capitaL of the Western Roman Empire by Honorius in 402 . In the sth and 6th centuries under the Goths (King Theodoric conquered in 493) and from 540 under the Byzantines the city was enriched with outstanding monuments and buildings. During the rule ofthe Da Polenta family Ravenna welcomed Dante Alighieri who died there in 1321 . The city was then dominated alternately by the Venetians and the Holy See until 1859. lts most important buildings include 5. Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, 5. Apollinare Nuovo and in Classe, The Mausoleum of Theodoric and the Baptistries. Art treasures from various epochs can be seen in the National and Archiepiscopal Museums, the Classense Library and the Municipal Art Gallery which contains an impressive collection ofl5th and i6th century paintings on wood and canvas, chiefly from the Romagna area. Ravenna's city of art tradition however is especially linked to the great, precious mosaics, stilI intact today, which make its rich complex of 5 th and 6th century Byzantine buildings unique in the world. A fascinating historical-artistic heritage, the richest and best preserved testimony ofearly Christian and Byzantine art in ltaly. (km 30)
Santarcangelo: Castrum Sancti Arcangeli has existed ever since 1037 along with the main boundary, which is visible near the ancient door of the Campanone Vecchio . In the second half of the XIII century the Castle of Santarcangelo was conquered by Rimini. In the XIV century Carlo Malatesta took command of it. In 1386 he built the new Fortress and Sigismondo Malatesta, his successor, enlarged the building and in 1447, built a new outer wall. Pope Leone XII granted the title of "città" to Santarcangelo. The famous Colle Giove Grottoes are attractive and mysterious. About one hundred were dug up between the tuff and clay and have been distributed on three levels. The historical medieval centre is worth visiting, too. Along its lanes, there are characteristic and picturesque houses with balconies full of flowers: Piazzetta delle Monache, Celletta Zampeschi , the Campanone and Porta Cervese. Nearby the Fortress you can find the convent of Cappuccini and S. Maria Immacolata church where some ancient paintings, dating from the XVII century, are kept. Entering Piazza Ganganelli , there is the Arco dedicated to Pope Ganganelli by his fellow townsmen in 1777. Not far from the centre of Santarcangelo there is a Romanesque church, San Michele Parish Churhc, one of the most important examples of Ravenna Romanesque buildings in Romagna. (8 Km)
Longiano: is between Cesena and Rimini, where the plain separates the sea from the hills, at an altitude of 179 meters above sea level . Even if it is a community of little less than 5000 inhabitants, it has remarkably  developed both economically and in defending its life quality. Therefore, in 1992, it was awarded the name of ideal village by the European Community and the magazine Airone. The territory of the community of Longiano extends for 23,64 square Km. In addition to the centre, there are other precious historical settlements like the Balignano and Massa ones and the Felloniche and Villa Gualdo ancient hot springs. In Longiano the beauty of the historical and artistic patrimony goes together with the beauty of the landscape. In fact ,the agriculture is followed respecting the environment and the resources of fertile hills which has been known for centuries for their oil and good quality wines as well as the rich production of fruit. The stately civic tower stands inside the charming castle courtyard and in front of it there is the white shape of a Venetian fountain. The Piazza Malatestiana opens out beyond the castle. From here some alleys and little stairs arrive among the houses of the ancient village. A little way ahead, in Via Giannini, there is the Territory Museumwhich hosts thousands of exhibits internally as well as in its courtyard in which traditions, crafts and customs were handed down from a very far past till nowadays.
